3. Recipe

Yield: One 9-inch pie (6–8 servings)

Ingredients

For the Crust

.All-Purpose Flour – 2 cups(240 gm)
.Cold Butter (cubed) – 1 cup(227 gm)
.Cold Water – ¼ to ½ cup
.Sugar – 1 tbsp
.Salt – ½ tsp

For the Apple Filling

.Apples (peeled and sliced) – 5–6 medium
.Sugar – ¾ cup(150 gm)
.Cinnamon Powder – 1 tsp
.Clove Powder – ¼ tsp
.Salt – a pinch
.Flour – 2 tbsp(16 gm)
.Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
.Butter – 1 tbsp

4. Method

1️⃣ Prepare the Crust

1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.

2. Add cold butter cubes and rub into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with small visible butter pieces.

3. Gradually add cold water, mixing gently until the dough just comes together. Do not overwork.

4. Divide dough into two portions, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

2️⃣ Prepare the Filling

1. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, clove powder, salt, flour, and lemon juice.

2. Mix well so the apples are evenly coated.

3️⃣ Assemble the Pie

1. Preheat oven to 170°C.

2. Roll out one portion of chilled dough on a lightly floured surface and place into a 9-inch pie dish.

3. Add the apple filling and dot the top with small pieces of butter.

4. Roll out the second portion of dough and place over the filling. Seal the edges properly and trim excess dough.

5. Cut small slits on top to allow steam to escape.

Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and apples are tender.

Allow the pie to cool slightly before slicing to let the filling set.
