Mango cakes became popular in tropical countries where fresh mangoes are available throughout the summer season. Professional pastry chefs later refined the recipe by combining light sponge cakes with homemade mango fillings and smooth buttercream frosting.

Today, Mango Layer Cake has become one of the most requested seasonal celebration cakes because it highlights the natural sweetness of ripe mangoes while maintaining the elegance of a classic layer cake.
